On occasion of 15 years of Staubgold in 2013, French dj and musician Sylvain Garcia aka Le K presents the latest entry in the acclaimed "Plays Staubgold" series. After Peter Grummich's 'Dinner Music For Clubbers' (2008), Alec Empire's 'Rauschgold' (2009), label owner Markus Detmer's '100 Jahre Einsamkeit' (2010) and the Gebrüder Teichmann's "Kraut und Rüben" (2011), it's now Le K from Perpignan who put his hands on the Staubgold label back catalogue in order to produce the fifth volume in this on-going series of dj mix cds.
On the beautifully crafted 'Le Petit Bonheur' Sylvain Garcia mixes the finest moments in 15 years of Staubgold to a challenging and totally genre-crossing whole which leads to musical territories yet unknown to their listeners.
Staubgold's roster can boast internationally known names like The Flying Lizards, Faust, To Rococo Rot, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Ekkehard Ehlers, Leafcutter John, Patrick Vian and the 49 Americans. In 2003, the label shifted its base from Cologne to Berlin and moved further to Perpignan in France in 2011. Thus "Le Petit Bonheur" is the first entry in the "Plays Staubgold" series which was entirely created in Perpignan. The front cover image was taken by Perpignan-based photographer Alexandre Cappi at the city's number one live venue and record shop, l'Ubu / Music Action.

For the first time officially available outside of Colombia, Bogota's Meridian Brothers present on the Staubgold label a delightfully surreal and playful compilation of their works from 2005 to 2011. "Devoción (Works 2005 - 2011)" features the best moments of three albums which previously have only been released on the local Colombian La Distritofónica label. Traditional instruments, electronics and distorted vocals are dragged through an array of influences to create a world that is as original as it is unclassifiable.
Straddling the line between new and old, the Meridian Brothers' mischievous blend of Latin rhythms and psychedelic grooves is the creation of Eblis Álvarez, one of the key figures of the experimental music scene in Bogota. As with all of the Meridian Brother's releases, every instrument on "Devoción (Works 2005 - 2011)" was played and recorded by Eblis himself. A true avant-garde guitar player and composer he also plays in Mario Galeano's band Frente Cumbiero and was one of the 42 musicians involved in the recording of Ondatrópica, released through Soundway Records in 2012.
A real musical maverick, labelled a genius by his contemporaries in Colombia, Eblis Álvarez and his Meridian Brothers finally get the full, worldwide attention they deserve.

Out now: The 49 Americans download-only album

july 2013

This download-only compilation by The 49 Americans includes the complete "14-Track Single" 7" and "Too Young To Be Ideal" 12" plus six bonus tracks (alternative takes), originally released in 1980 and now for the first available in digital format.
On occasion of its 15th anniversary, the Staubgold label is proud to reissue the complete back catalogue of The 49 Americans. Further releases include the group's second album „We Know Nonsense“ (staubgold 123 - CD, vinyl and download) and their first album "E Pluribus Unum" (staubgold 124 – vinyl and download). All downloads feature exclusive bonus tracks (live recordings and studio outtakes).
"The 49 Americans were an experiment in the pursuit of happiness. We were playing because we wanted to play, because we enjoyed being together and seeing what each other could do; musicians and non-musicians surprising each other. We did not take ourselves seriously, but we were serious about that. In the increasingly global market place, there is less and less room for individuals at the top. So we celebrated, not being at the top, but simply being together. Like the Statue of Liberty we held up a shining torch of self-entertainment! Saying: Have fun! Play! Participate! Everyone should be allowed to be an American. Like it says on the dollars: E pluribus unum!" (Andrew Brenner aka Giblet)

Out now: Patrick Vian's "Bruits Et Temps Analogues"

Staubgold is proud to reissue the one and only solo album of Patrick Vian (Red Noise), originally released in 1976 on the Egg label. The album is available on vinyl in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies and for the first time ever on CD and as a download.
A wonderful and obscure gem of electronic music certain to please the fans of Krautrock, French 70s electronic music and Kosmische Musik. Patrick Vian plays Moog 2C, ARP 2600, Moog Sequencer and piano and gets help from jazz musician Mino Cinelu (who had played with the likes of Gong, Weather Report and Miles Davis) on drums and percussion. Georges Granier adds Fender Rhodes, marimba, noise and scissors. Bernard Lavialle (Ame Son) plays guitar. Together they create a unique hybrid of experimental electronic, jazz and world music. This highly original sound made Steven Stapleton include Patrick Vian to the famous Nurse With Wound list of adventurous music.
"Excellent moog-based rock album released in 1976 on the legendary Egg label. It's a wonder this hasn't been reissued (before), what with the intense interest in all things analog, to say nothing of the dozens of 'sampleable' grooves herein. Similar to early Heldon, or mid-period Tangerine Dream, but really its own thing and a very enjoyable recording."

Long-awaited reissues of the two original albums (from 1980 and 1982) by late 70s/early 80s UK DIY super group The 49 Americans. The main instigator behind The 49 Americans was Andrew "Giblet" Brenner who assembled a loose, disparate group of musical/non-musical practitioners as an experiment in equality and democracy. This democracy included David Toop, Steve Beresford, Max Eastley, Lol Coxhill and Peter Cusack (coming out of the anything goes improv scene), Nag and Bendle of The Door And The Window, Viv Albertine of the Slits, Vivien Goldman (her Adrian Sherwoood/John Lydon produced Dirty Washing 12" on 99 Records is a classic), Giblet's mum and many more. "Think of The 49 Americans as a band, in the conventional sense, and you're lost." (David Toop)
The CD version of "We Know Nonsense" comes as a lovingly assembled career-spanning compilation. It features the complete original "We Know Nonsense" album as well as 23 (!) bonus tracks taken from The 49 Americans' first album "E Pluribus Unum" (1980) and their 7" "The 14-Track Single (1979)". A 20-pages booklet contains "The Incompleteable Story of The 49 Americans".

Jan Jelinek, Hanno Leichtmann and Andrew Pekler have formed a trio that can truly be called a supergroup. As solo artists, all three members are among the most renowned of Berlin's electronic musicians. When playing together as Groupshow the three instrumentalists - themselves largely informed by minimalist sensibilities - engage with the idiom of free-form collective improvisation, which has a long tradition in Germany dating back to the days of Fluxus and Krautrock. Consequentially the individual members' roles are not entirely fixed.
"Live At Skymall" was recorded live in Berlin and Lisbon in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
